Fred D. Wolinsky, CPA & MBA

Fred D. Wolinsky sadly passed away in March 2024 at age 78.  Boschan Corp. would not exist without Mr. Wolinsky's mentorship of Cedar Boschan.

Mr. Wolinsky spent decades auditing major entertainment companies on behalf of entertainers and licensors as well as conducted due diligence reviews and preparation of royalty-based accountings.

Mr. Wolinsky's professional history included years with Laventhal & Horwath and Prager & Fenton (now Prager Metis) as well as serving as managing partner at Wolinsky, Becker & Hurewitz, LLP, which he founded in the 1990s (and which merged with Miller, Kaplan, Arase & Co., LLP in 2008). During his retirement years, he served as a mentor and consultant to Boschan Corp.

It is no surprise that he is widely regarded as "legendary" in the entertainment industry; Wolinsky, Becker & Hurewitz' audits recovered more than $100 million in settlement payments to its clients and Mr. Wolinsky's litigation support experience in the recording, music publishing, motion picture, television and media sectors included giving expert witness testimony in landmark cases, such as:

  • B. J. Thomas & The Shirelles v. Gusto, which established artist royalty standards in sound recording licensing to third parties.

  • Greenfield (The Ronettes) v. Philles Records (Phil Spector)

Mr. Wolinsky has been featured in Billboard Magazine and testified in the California State Senate hearings that ultimately led to the adoption of SB 1034, which expanded audit rights for artists and producers in the record industry.

Prior to his career in royalty audits and forensic accounting, Mr. Wolinsky worked in the television industry and he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School, where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity, as well as his Masters in Business Administration from The University of Southern California.

In his spare time, Mr. Wolinsky volunteered as a "Big Brother," and as a "diabetes coach" to help those who are coping with the disease.  He also fundraised to find a cure for diabetes and to fight blindness.

Donations in his honor can be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Diabetes Research Institute.

We are grateful for Fred Wolinsky's immense legacy and the time we had together.
